Week 1: The Past

Because of things that others have done and things we have done ourselves, it can feel like we are trapped - living inside a box, not being who we want to be. This box affects how we feel and think - especially feeling ashamed and thinking negatively. But if we understand how the box was made and begin to change some of the rules it likes us to live by, this will prepare us for escaping from the box next week.

Week 2: The Present

When we think about who we truly are as humans, it is clear that the box is not where we are meant to live. This week we look at our identity, and then we'll look at how to leave the box completely. We need to make a fresh start, but also do justice to the past and what we have experienced. We'll look at the importance of forgiveness and what to do when this is hard.

Week 3: People

People - you can't live with them and you can't live without them! This week we look at how to have healthy relationships and how to sort out your relationships if they are not health. To help us, we look at two models for getting on with each other - how Jesus lived and how a local church should be. We'll also look at the 'inner dialogue' that can go on inside our head when we meet people - it can be helpful, but it can also undermine and destroy.

Week 4: Problems

We do what we do for a reason - it seemed right at the time. But, as times change and people move on, the things we do can become unhelpful - yet we can't change. This week we take you through a seven-step process to change any behaviour, and in doing so improve our thinking and our moods. Change is scary and will be difficult initially, but it is worth it in the long run. It is also essential.

Week 5: Potential

Life outside the box is good! But for someone just stepping out it is not only scary, but vast. There are so many different options - and some are not that healthy. Here we look at how our pasts and relationships can give us clues. We also discover that we are actually well practiced at making decisions. We have so much potential that is just waiting to come out.

Week 6: The Path

The box is open, the journey is mapped out - it's time to take the first steps. This week puts those steps in place and also makes sure you don't slip right back into the box. There may be wobbles, but these are normal. You will also be given information on books to read, extra handouts and more resources to help keep you going and to share with others.

St Peter's has a strong legacy of healing ministry, both within it's Sunday services but also through connection with the St Peter's Medical Centre. We strongly believe that Jesus Christ can bring us deep inner healing, bringing release from depression, emotional pain and unresolved hurts in our past.

We offer prayer ministry for all physical, emotional and mental health issues as well as any other enduring concerns. This often takes place at the end of our Sunday services but can also be arranged through our pastoral team.

Somethimes individuals will feel that they need to access professional counselling or support services to resolve deeper emotional issues. Therefore we aim to provide connections to Christian counselling and therapy though our partner ministry Mind and Soul.
