Church Life

Youth Ministry at St Peter's.

YouthsPraying

Ever notice how popular ‘apprentice’ stories are? You don’t have to wait too long to find a film or TV series that focuses on a young student being taken under the wing of an old teacher in order to master new skills.

By far the best example of this is Jesus in the gospels, taking a mixed group of ‘young people’ and transforming them into the greatest movement the world has ever seen. That’s  why the focus on young people at St Peter’s is equipping young people for service in God’s family and God’s world. We want to see our youth trained for leadership both inside and outside of the four walls of church, helping them to think about what it means to be a Christian in every aspect of life.

So you’ll find young people and young adults active and involved in many areas of ministry in the church: worship, teaching, church leadership. And we’ve got some great teaching programmes for young people to get involved in. For 11- 14 year olds we haveSupernovas’, led by Arwyn Bailey , it meets during the main meetings every Sunday morning, arranges socials and hosts ‘Under Pressure’ once a month on Thursdays. Under Pressure is a chance for teenagers to question adults about their faith journey.

14-18 yr olds meet once a month during the Sunday morning service for the ‘Big feed’ a chance to learn, worship and eat together. Plus there’s a great opportunity for young people to deepen their faith every sunday night at Soul Survivor - a missional youth outreach project - which meets at 6.30pm at the Brigade Hall in South Harrow. Head to www.soulsurvivorharrow.co.uk for more info.

And youth ministry at St Peter’s is a family affair, we seek to encourage and support parents and the adult congregation as they seek to model passionate faith to our children and young people, so be sure to look out for parent training programmes throughout the year.

Jason Gardner, our full time youth pastor at St Peter’s, is a brand new addition to the team so do watch this space for more developments in our youth ministry and if you want to contact Jason you can get him at Gardnerjason42@gmail.com or on 07816 775 916.
